Citizens for a Clean Environment are local residents throughout Southeastern Texas near Victoria and the surrounding counties concerned with the pollution from energy. We advocate for the implementation of energy efficiency measures instead of new power plants, and the development of renewable methods of energy generation with energy storage capabilities.

We are concerned with the newly proposed Coleto Creek unit 2 station. The first station was built decades ago and has been spilling out tons of toxic pollutants for years. We can't tolerate any more pollution and don't want to see the plant expanded unless they use the cleanest technology possible in both the new unit and to clean up the old unit.

The energy from this plant will go elsewhere in Texas while we have to suffer the pollution. The jobs it would create are unnecessary and many will be from outside our community. Energy efficiency programs would create more local jobs and stimulate our economy with no threat of an economic bubble-burst.
